ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Credit Union Network’s (MnCUN) Political Involvement Committee recently voted to endorse Senator Tina Smith in her reelection bid for the 2020 election. “In all of her time in public office, Senator Smith has proven herself to be a strong champion of the credit union movement,” said MnCUN Chief Advocacy Officer Mara Humphrey. “In addition to authoring legislation important to credit unions and their members, Sen. Smith understands the critical role credit unions play in helping to ensure the vitality of the communities they serve. We look forward to her continued service in the Senate.” “Credit unions are an integral part of communities across Minnesota,” said Senator Smith. “Both before and during the economic difficulties wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic, they've provided critical support for families and small businesses across every region of our state. I'm proud to work with the Minnesota Credit Union Network to make sure credit unions remain an important choice for consumers in Minnesota and am honored to have their support.” MnCUN is the statewide organization that represents the needs and interests of credit unions in Minnesota. The Political Involvement Committee provides input and recommendations on legislative efforts at the state and federal level. The Minnesota Credit Union Network is the statewide trade association that works to ensure the success, growth, and vitality of Minnesota credit unions. With nearly $27 billion in assets, Minnesota credit unions are local, trusted financial cooperatives that serve almost 1.9 million members at around 400 branch locations around the state. As not-for-profit institutions, credit unions give back to the communities they serve.
