Royal Credit Union - EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - On Thursday, March 9, Royal Credit Union (Royal) held a ribbon cutting ceremony at Manz Elementary School in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to celebrate their newest School $ense partnership. School $ense is Royal’s signature financial education program that operates student-run credit union locations in grade schools, middle schools, and high schools throughout Royal’s footprint in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The School $ense program began at Meadowview Elementary School in Eau Claire during the 1992-1993 school year and is now opening its 30th site during its 30th school year. “We appreciate our long-standing partnership with the Eau Claire Area School District and now Manz Elementary,” said Brandon Riechers, Royal Credit Union President & CEO. “We look forward to many more years of working with area educators to make a positive impact in the lives of students.” The School $ense program offers the opportunity for thousands of students to learn to become smart savers and spenders by making weekly deposits and withdrawals at school. Students are also able to earn prizes as they save. As an added incentive to help support elementary schools, for every 500 student deposits made, Royal donates $250 to their school. To start the program off right, Royal presented Manz Elementary with their first $250 check. “We are so excited to have a Royal School $ense program here at Manz.” said Adam Keeton, Manz Elementary Principal. “Our students will benefit greatly from access to making deposits at school and the financial education that will now be at their fingertips.” In total, Royal operates offices in 6 high schools, 5 middle schools and 19 elementary schools throughout northwest Wisconsin and the Twin Cities metro. Just over 370 students work for the program each year. The high school tellers are hired team members and our middle and elementary students are proud volunteers. Program wide, participants in School $ense conduct over 18-thousand transactions and deposit over $550 thousand each year.
