Cyberattacks and fraud are a growing concern as workplaces and our everyday lives are increasingly more connected to technology. “One of the fastest growing attack surfaces is on mobile devices. Phones connect to a number of things that store personal information including email, text messages and apps that may store credit card information,” said Alisha Johnson, Ideal Credit Union Chief Growth Officer. “Often, we are aware about having security updates and strong passwords on our computers, we want our members to know how to protect private personal or business information they may have on their phones as well.” Ideal Credit Union’s 5 Best Practice Tips to Secure Your Mobile Device • -Enable fingerprint login access to gain entry to your phone, because the fingerprint is more complex than a passcode and difficult to spoof. -Research the Apps you download to make sure they are trustworthy to prevent problem Apps that put Malware on your device. -Avoid public USB sockets when looking to charge your device as they can be tampered with. Connect to your own laptop to charge or an electrical outlet. -Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest security updates -Consider turning off wireless, Bluetooth or going into Airplane Mode when your phone isn’t in needed.
