SPIRE Credit Union - FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. - Justin Burleson, SPIRE SVP/Chief Operating, Financial and Technology Officer, has been appointed to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Examination & Supervision Subcommittee. This national subcommittee monitors and makes recommendations for safe, fair, and efficient examinations of federal and state credit unions. Burleson will work collaboratively with CUNA, its Advocacy Committee, the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), and the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund. The team’s goal is to assure sound structure of the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund and other federal governmental programs affecting credit unions. Burleson joined SPIRE Credit Union in January 2020 as their Senior Vice President (SVP), Chief Operating Officer. SPIRE is the fourth largest credit union in Minnesota with $1.9 Billion in assets, 143,000 members, 350 employees, and 21 branches. In November 2020, Burleson also took on the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role. Prior to joining SPIRE, Burleson was a Supervisory Examiner for the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), the agency that insures deposits at federally insured credit unions, protects its members, and regulates federal credit unions. In that role, he supervised 10 Minnesota- and North Dakota-based examiners, spanning responsibility for 135 credit unions. “I am honored to be able to serve our industry in this capacity,” said Burleson. “SPIRE’s commitment to giving back mirrors my personal values.
