Mower County Employees Credit Union – Austin, MN (September 1, 2021) – The Mower County Employees Credit Union recently celebrated 60 years of member service with their grand opening event on August 6, 2021.
The credit union was chartered in 1961 to benefit the employees of Mower County and celebrated their many years of service with a variety of events including free lunch, department money bag competitions, giveaways, $1 million dollar photo opportunities and a logo voting contest. The celebration included tours of the credit union’s new building located at 900 18th Ave NW in Austin, Minnesota.
“The event was well attended, including members who traveled back to our community to help celebrate our grand opening and milestone event,” said Mower County Employees Credit Union Manager Stephanie Riles. “Our new location is conveniently located, offering full-service as we continue serving members well into the future – for another sixty plus years.”
Volunteer board and committee members helped served a free lunch offered to all attendees including gourmet hot dogs and walking tacos. Events during the day included money grab bag and spin-to-win games offering members the opportunity to win a variety of prizes. Photo opportunities were available including a Las Vegas style display of $1 million dollars and law enforcement vehicles for kids to meet and greet those who serve the community through the Sheriff’s Department. Additional activities included a voting contest allowing members to choose the credit union’s new logo. “The choice was a tough decision as each option represented our mission well, but members did select a great new logo for the credit union. We are excited to announce the winning image is a blend of landscapes including a beautiful tree representing the Mower County community we call home,” said Board President Duane Felt.
Member involvement included more activities throughout the month of August and the celebration extended into the opportunity to support local charities. Departments of Mower County decorated cloth money bags to represent the services they provide to the community and a voting contest was held for members to choose the top three department bags. The lucky department winners included: Mower County’s Veteran Services, Tax Payer Services and Recorder’s Office. Each department selected a charity of their choice and the credit union provided a monetary donation up to $500 to the Mower County Veteran’s Council and the Hormel Institute. “Our mission of people helping people goes far beyond only helping our members. We strive to represent our members by further providing to our community as a whole, in which our members do each and every day as part of their work,” mentioned Manager Stephanie Riles.
