ROCHESTER, Minn. - Becky Seavey, Chief Financial Officer, has been named a 2023 Honoree for Top Women in Finance by Finance & Commerce. Nominees for this honor are accepted from across the state of MN and are comprised of women who are dedicated to the finance field, making successful contributions to their organizations. Finance & Commerce selects a distinguished group of women to recognize each year. During her tenure with MEFCU, Becky has enhanced processes, created efficiencies, and led a highly effective and productive accounting team. She has elevated the organization’s level of financial acumen and analysis, and provided new perspectives on how MEFCU looks at their business strategically. She is eager to assist with analysis whether it be new product related, regulatory, or accounting related. Or, simply educating staff to more fully understand the “why” behind many of the procedures or complex situations presented on a daily basis. Becky lives the Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People” and MEFCU’s very high standard of care for their members and staff. Becky is also highly committed to lending her time and talents through community involvement. Her contributions to the organizations she supports is invaluable and demonstrates her care, compassion, and desire to give back to the community. Becky began her career working at McGladrey (now RSM), primarily auditing banks and credit unions. She then moved into the Controller role at Eastwood Bank (now Bremer Bank) where she oversaw aspects of the accounting function for the financial institution. Her experience at Eastwood Bank allowed her to seamlessly move into the first Controller Position at MEFCU in 2015, and she earned her promotion to the CFO role in 2019. Becky received her Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College and her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Augsburg University. She also maintains an active CPA license. Becky is the leader in the organization who oversees much of our asset & liability, and liquidity management. While the last two years for financial institutions have been challenging, Becky’s leadership and passion for these areas has helped MEFCU navigate this environment masterfully. The MEFCU team is proud of Becky’s contributions to their success, and grateful for her dedication to their members, team, and community. Becky will be recognized with 30 other women at an event in Minneapolis on November 16th.
