NEW RICHMOND, Wis- The Royal Credit Union Foundation (RCU Foundation) Making a Difference (M.A.D) Trivia night sold out for the second year in row and raised $5,000 for St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity. The event was hosted in partnership with the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, November 2 at the 45th Parallel Distillery. 160 participants gathered on teams of eight and competed during six rounds of trivia for prizes. “It was great to see the community come together at this sold-out event to support St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity as well as the RCU Foundation,” said John Sackett, RCU Foundation President. “This year, Royal team members had the unique opportunity to expand our impact beyond the trivia night by volunteering at a home build with our charity partner in the months leading up to the event. It was a powerful experience we won’t forget.” Construction of the home was completed in August. The current homeowner attended the M.A.D. Trivia event to share her appreciation for all the community has done to help her achieve her home ownership dreams. Her family of five is looking forward to celebrating their first Thanksgiving together in their new home. “The RCU Foundation donation of $5,000 to St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity will go a long way in supporting our mission of bringing people together to build homes, community and hope,” shared Kristie Smith, St. Croix Valley Habitat for Humanity Executive Director. “Since we started in 1996, we have been able to help 75 families. We can’t do this alone and are so thankful for generous volunteer and financial support we have received from our partners in the New Richmond community.” About RCU Foundation The RCU Foundation (Foundation) was established in 2012 to support organizations and initiatives in communities where Royal Credit Union operates in western Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
