St. Paul, Minnesota – On Saturday, September 23, Wings Credit Union awarded a $10,000 scholarship to a University of St. Thomas student for winning an on-field contest at the Tommies home football game versus the Morehead State Eagles. Colin McGill, an Opus College of Business student, successfully completed a 25-yard field goal kick to win his prize. A St. Paul native, Colin is the fourth of five his five siblings to attend the University of St. Thomas. He was encouraged by his brother to sign up for the contest. “When they told me I was chosen, it became a family effort. My two older brothers took me out the day before to practice and then my dad was able to hold the ball for me for the actual kick, while my mom and little sister were watching from the sidelines!” “This scholarship means so much to me,” Colin told us. “I have been stressed with my financial situation. I am responsible for paying for college and was trying my best to balance a job, academics and club soccer during my first year of college. Winning this $10,000 really allows me to de-stress and focus more on meeting people and enjoying the St. Thomas experience.” John Wagner, Senior Vice President – Member Experience, was there to congratulate Colin on his prize. “Wings is proud of our partnership with Tommie Athletics.
