(Feb 9, 2020) - Last month, the WINcentive ® Savings program announced the final prizes awarded through the Minnesota statewide prize pool for 2020, including two grand prizes of $5,000 each, five $1,000 quarterly prizes and 50 $100 prizes. Members from Financial One Credit Union, Columbia Heights, Minn., and First Alliance Credit Union, Rochester, MN, were the lucky recipients of the annual grand prize drawings. First Alliance Credit Union surprised member Heather S. of Dodge Center with a $5,000 check. “This is probably about how much I lost in income due to the shutdowns,” said Heather S. “This is huge, it’s a godsend for me,” she told First Alliance upon winning. Financial One Credit Union celebrated their grand prize winner, 8-year-old Keegan H., at their Columbia Heights location. Keegan’s grandfather opened a WINcentive Savings Account to help Keegan save for his future. Participating members of all 23 Minnesota-based credit unions offering WINcentive were eligible for the monthly, quarterly and annual statewide prizes for 2020. The announcement regarding the special annual prize drawing was made via Facebook Live, on the WINcentive Facebook page. As of December 2020, WINcentive in Minnesota has reached 8,400 accounts open with nearly $10 million in total saved by members of credit unions throughout the state. WINcentive Savings incentivizes consumers in to save by offering risk-free rewards. WINcentive prizes are awarded on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, with prizes ranging from $100 to $5,000. Account holders in Minnesota qualify for up to four chances per month for each $25 increase in their month over month savings balance. The Minnesota Credit Union Network and its wholly owned subsidiary TruLync also administer prize-linked savings programs for credit unions in Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Montana, New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Wisconsin. To date, the programs provide nearly 29,000 members the opportunity to win through prize-linked savings accounts, with over $40 million saved. In total, the programs have awarded over $1 million dollars in prizes to members of credit unions throughout the nation.
